Patches

How to play Patches

Learn rectangle areas, shape clues, touch controls and keyboard shortcuts with original practice puzzles.

6 ▭3 × 2

1. Read area and shape together

A 6 means exactly six cells. With a wide symbol, 3×2 and 6×1 are possible; 2×3 is tall. A square has equal sides. The diamond allows any rectangle. A dot means the area is not given.

2. Draw one patch around one clue

Drag between opposite corners, or tap one corner and then the other. On a keyboard, use arrow keys to move and Enter or Space to choose corners. Escape cancels a selection. Every patch must contain exactly one clue, never two.

3. Fill every cell

Patches cannot overlap, and no cell can be left empty. Tap a placed patch to remove it. Undo and redo let you explore; clearing the board can also be undone. Passing a local check does not mean a patch belongs to the final solution.

4. Learn at your own pace

Open Learn & train for 12 small lessons and 60 selected practice boards. Hints first point you toward a clue, then explain a deduction, then let you place the patch. Revealing the solution records an assisted completion.
